Green Ricordea mushrooms (Ricordea yuma) are popular marine invertebrates in the aquarium hobby. They are known for their vibrant colors and unique appearance. Here are some general requirements for keeping Green Ricordea mushrooms in an aquarium:

1. Aquarium Setup:
– Tank Size: A small aquarium with a minimum capacity of 10 gallons is suitable for keeping Green Ricordea mushrooms. However, a larger tank will provide more stable water parameters.
– Lighting: Ricordea mushrooms require moderate to high lighting. LED lights or T5 fluorescent lights with a color temperature between 10,000K and 20,000K are recommended to promote their growth and enhance their colors.
– Water Flow: Moderate water flow is ideal for Ricordea mushrooms. They prefer gentle, indirect flow, so it’s advisable to position them in low-flow areas of the tank.

2. Water Parameters:
– Temperature: Maintain the water temperature between 75°F (24°C) and 80°F (27°C).
– Salinity: Ricordea mushrooms prefer a salinity level of 1.024 to 1.026 specific gravity (SG).
– pH: Keep the pH level between 8.1 and 8.4.
– Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate: Ensure that ammonia and nitrite levels are undetectable, and keep nitrate levels as low as possible (below 10 ppm).
– Alkalinity and Calcium: Maintain stable alkalinity levels (7 to 12 dKH) and calcium levels (380 to 450 ppm) to support the growth of Ricordea mushrooms and other coral species.

3. Placement:
– Ricordea mushrooms are best placed on live rock or rubble substrate. They can attach themselves to the rockwork using a muscular foot.
– Provide enough space between Ricordea colonies to prevent them from touching and potentially damaging each other.

4. Feeding:
– Ricordea mushrooms are photosynthetic and derive much of their nutrition from the symbiotic algae (zooxanthellae) present within their tissues. However, they can also benefit from supplemental feedings.
– Offer small meaty foods such as finely chopped seafood, mysis shrimp, or cyclops. Feed them once or twice a week.

5. Maintenance:
– Regular water changes (10-20% every 2-4 weeks) help maintain water quality and nutrient balance.
– Keep an eye on any signs of stress, such as shrinking, discoloration, or tissue damage. Ricordea mushrooms are generally hardy, but sudden changes in water parameters can affect their health.

Remember, individual aquarium setups may have specific requirements, and it’s essential to research and adapt the care guidelines based on your particular setup and the needs of your Ricordea mushrooms. Regular monitoring and observation of your aquarium will help ensure the well-being of these captivating creatures.
